Bangalore, April 21, 2023: With nurturing talent being at its forefront since 1982, PETRONAS TVS Racing team returns with the 7th edition of PETRONAS TVS Young Media Racers Program at Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT). The program is in line with TVS Racing's commitment of promoting motorsports in India and training young enthusiasts representing media houses, who are passionate about motorsports. The program has successfully trained over 150 journalists by sharpening their racing skills over the years.

After attending a full-day classroom and rigorous training session by the TVS Racing Team, 16 fastest riders from a total of 31 journalists and influencers from across India were selected to race for the entire season in the media category this year. These riders will ride the race-spec TVS Apache RTR 200 throughout the season.

TVS Racing has been playing a key role in flourishing the motorsports culture in India and the company’s “Track To Road” philosophy has been pivotal in engineering the TVS Apache series. The performance motorcycle brand has recently achieved its 5 million global sales milestone, becoming the fastest growing in the segment.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vimal Sumbly, Head Business – Premium, said, "As a flagbearer in the Indian motorsports arena, PETRONAS TVS Racing is continuously exciting the motorsport enthusiasts through focused initiatives like Young Media Racers Program, offering training to racing enthusiasts from the media community. It is heartening to see the passion and enthusiasm which these young enthusiasts demonstrated at the selection round. We are confident that the training sessions planned for them will further fuel their performance and I wish all the riders good luck for this season."

The first-of-its-kind ‘TVS Young Media Racer Program’ is executed in two phases. In the first phase of the program, the company enrolls young media professionals for a structured training program conducted under the expert guidance of FMSCI professionals. The program is focused on acquainting journalists and influencers with the finer nuances of road racing to enhance their technique. In the second phase of the program, the top riders from the selection round compete for their best lap time from over 3 race weekends as part of TVS One Make Championship which is organised on the sidelines of Indian National Road Racing Championship.
