Motorcycles sales records 12 per cent growth over May 2004

TVS Motor Company's total two wheeler sales in June 2004 stood at 91,945 units compared to 92,039 units, during the same period last year. 

The company recorded a growth of 12 per cent in motorcycles over May 2004 (48,159 units in June 2004 versus 43,180 units in May 2004) The total motorcycle sales in June 2004 stood at 48,159 units compared to 56,444 units in the same period last year. The two stroke motorcycles continued to contribute to the decline of the total motorcycle growth. The launch of Victor GLX and the scheduled launch of Max 4 stroke in the second quarter will not only arrest the decline but will propel TVS Motor Company on a positive growth curve..

During the month, the company rolled out the new Victor GLX 125 in the north and will soon follow it in other regions. The initial response for the Victor GLX 125 in the north has been excellent. Together with the present Victor GL 110 CC the volumes of Victor series will see a boost in the coming months. The new TV commercial for Victor GLX will be on air from Sunday July 4, 2004 and this will be backed by all other mediums of communication in the coming weeks.

TVS Centra continued to receive excellent market response and has sold over 74,000 units since its launch in end January 2004. 

The Scooterette sales witnessed an impressive growth of 55% clocking 22,339 units in June 2004 compared to 14,403 units recorded last year. TVS Scooty brand continues to be the market leader in the scooterette segment. 

Moped sales stood at 21,447 units in June 2004 compared to 21,192 units in the same period last year. The company continues to enjoy market leadership and has performed exceptionally well compared to the industry.

Our commercials and other forms of communication backed by ground level activities have created a spurt in customer traffic in our dealerships across the country. This will result in a surge in the sales in the coming months.

In the export front, TVS Motor Company continued its robust performance having exported 5,158 units in June 2004, also recording the highest exports ever achieved by the company. It recorded a growth of 153% compared to the same period last year.
