TVS MOTOR ACHIEVES OVER 1 LAKH SALES SECOND CONSECUTIVE MONTH

TVS Motorcycles grow at 46% in October 2002

In continuation to the landmark performance in September 2002, TVS Motor displayed consistency in sales recording 1,00,220 units in October 2002. Bulk of this growth is attributed to the continued increase in demand for motorcycles, particularly, the state-of-the-art TVS-Victor. Motorcycle sales were 66,764 units in October 2002 as compared to 45,865 units in October 2001 registering a 46% growth. In the Scooterette segment (ungeared below 100 cc category) TVS Scooty has recorded a growth of 6% in October 02 as compared the same period last year. (15,226 units in Oct'02 vs 14,397 units in Oct'01). Due to the continued poor demand in rural markets, Moped sales stood at 18,230 units in October 2002 as compared to 21,079 units same period last year. However TVS Motor Company continues to maintain its market leadership in this segment. On the aggregate, TVS Motor Company maintained its positive trend for the period April - October 2002, with growth of 88% in motorcycles (4,12,156 units vs 2,18,869 units last year), 8 % in Scooterettes (99,997 units vs 92,886 units last year) and an enviable 41 % in total two wheelers (6,57,567 units vs 4,67,526 units last year) surpassing Industry performance.
