TVS Motor reports Record sales and turnover

Turnover Rs. 2,955.21 Crores, PBT Rs. 200.45 Crores and PAT Rs. 137.57 Crores
Announces An Additional Dividend of 60 %

TVS Motor Company achieved the highest ever gross revenue of Rs 2,955.21 crores in 2004-05 a growth of 3 % compared to Rs. 2856.42 crores achieved during 2003-04. The Profit Before Tax (PBT) for 2004-05 was Rs. 200.45 crores compared to Rs. 214.53 crores achieved during the same period last year. Profit After Tax (PAT) for 2004 -05 was Rs. 137.57 crores compared to 138.49 crores recorded last year. TVS Motor Company in November 2004 had declared an interim dividend of 70% and today announced a further dividend of 60 %, amounting to a total of 130 % for the year 2004-05.

In the fourth quarter ended March 2005, TVS Motor Company recorded a turnover of Rs.770.39 crores compared to Rs.729.82 crores achieved in the corresponding period last year, recording a growth of 6%. PBT for the fourth quarter was at Rs. 63.24 crores compared to Rs. 64.59 crores and PAT stood at Rs. 47.92 crores compared to Rs. 41.93 crores achieved during the same period last year. PAT during Q4 recorded a growth of 14%.

The figures reported for Quarter 4, are not comparable with that of last year since the full year results of Engine Division of erstwhile LAC (since merged with TVS-M) were included in the Quarter 4 results of 2003-04.

The year 2004–05 saw multiple product launches by TVS Motor Company and sales of total two wheelers crossed the one million mark for the third consecutive year. The company launched two motorcycles during the year namely TVS StaR and TVS Victor GLX 125 CC. In addition a variant of Victor GX 110 CC with 'duralife' engine and a style variant of TVS StaR 'Deluxe' was launched.

TVS Victor, one of the leading brands in the executive segment crossed the one million mark during the year 2004-05 since its launch in III Qtr of 2001-02. TVS Star the economy segment 100 cc motorcycle has crossed the one-lakh mark since its launch. TVS Star was launched across the markets in phases from October 2004. In the 4 stroke motorcycles TVS-M range comprising of Victor, Star, Centra, and Fiero posted a growth of 13%.

TVS Scooty achieved its best ever sales in a year 224,527 units with a growth of 19% during 2004-05 over the previous year. This growth was higher than that of the industry growth of just 15% and propelled the market share of TVS Motor Company to 31.1% in the variomatic scooters category.

During 2004-05, TVS-M strengthened its leadership in the moped segment with a market share of 74.3%. Compared to the industry growth of 3.5%, TVS-M posted a growth of 4.9%.

TVS Motor Company recorded the highest ever export sales by clocking 48,560 units, a 73% increase over last year figure of 28,043 units. TVS-M increased exports revenue to Rs.123 crores in the current year compared to Rs. 69 crores registered last year, an increase of 78%.
