TVS Motor Sales at 1,00,224 units in July 2004. Motorcycles up 10% over June 2004

TVS Motor Company's total two wheeler sales in July 2004 stood at 1,00,224 units compared to 97,613 units, during the same period last year recording a growth of 3%.

The company recorded a growth of 10% in motorcycles over June 2004 (52,958 units in July 2004 versus 48,159 units in June 2004). The total motorcycle sales in July 2004 stood at 52,958 units compared to 57,227 units in the same period last year. The two stroke motorcycles continued to contribute to the decline of motorcycles. With the launch of entry level 4-stroke motorcycle in the second quarter TVS Motor Company will consolidate its total motorcycle sales.

TVS Centra has established itself as a motorcycle with phenomenal mileage and has witnessed a steady growth in its sales. The advertising campaign and promotion activities in the form of 'Mileage Challenge' have propelled TVS Centra as a preferred motorcycle. The company's recent launch of Victor GLX 125 has received good response across all regions. Excellent Advertising backed by promotional activities will spiral the demand for Victor GLX in the coming months.

The Scooterette sales witnessed an impressive growth of clocking 22,501 units in July 2004. TVS Scooty brand continues to be the market leader in the Scooterette segment.

Moped sales stood at 24,765 units in July 2004 compared to 21,137 units in the same period last year. The company continues to enjoy market leadership and has performed exceptionally well compared to the industry.

In the export front, TVS Motor Company continued its good performance having exported 4,452 units in July 2004, recording a growth of 114% compared to the same period last year.
