TVS Motor Sales at 142,325 units in October’06, Motorcycles record 92,328 units at a growth of 8%,
Two wheeler retail sales at all time high, over 1,85,000 units
TVS Motor Company continued its growth trend by registering a total two wheelers sales of 142,325 units in October 2006 compared to 137,886 units last year during the same period.

The motorcycles recorded 92,328 units in October 2006 compared to 85,463 units achieved during the same period last year at a growth of 8%.

Cashing in on the festival season, the retail sales of the company’s two wheelers in October 2006 recorded an all time high of over 1,85,000 units.

For the period April - October 06, the company recorded 9,37,405 units of two wheelers compared to 7,70,841 units recorded in the previous year, at a growth of 22%. The motorcycles during this period clocked 5,84,155 units at a growth rate of 30%.

The overall growth in two wheelers was fuelled by the continued demand for its motorcycles especially TVS StaR City and TVS Apache. TVS StaR brand crossed the 1 million sales mark since its launch and with the recent launch of the electric start variant the demand for the vehicle is expected to grow further in the coming months. Apache continues to be in demand and has captured sizeable share in the premium segment of the motorcycle market.

The scooter sales stood at 22,836 units in October 2006 compared to 25,373 units in the same period last year. The company will soon launch a 2-stroke variant, ‘Scooty Teenz’. Scooty Pep+ continues to be the number 1 brand among young girls.

In the export front, TVS Motor Company recorded 7,232 units in October 2006, recording a growth of 20% compared to the same period last year.
