TVS M's two wheeler sales in June 2007 at 107,117 units

TVS Motor Company reported total two wheeler sales of 107,117 units in June 2007 compared to 126,290 units in June 2006.

TVS Scooty continues to be the market leader in the sub 100 cc scooter segment recording sales of 25,962 units in June 2007 compared to 25,148 units sold during June 2006. Recently, the company signed on Trisha Krishnan, top South Indian actress, as its brand ambassador.

During the month the compan's motorcycle sales recorded 47,380 units compared to 74,373 units recorded in June 2006.

The Motorcycle industry continued to decline and the company experienced similar slowdown in motorcycle sales. This slowdown was mainly due to increased cost and stringent norms being followed by retail financiers. More than 60 per cent of the sales of two wheelers are dependent on retail finance.

The company will begin its commercial launch of the Apache RTR, the new 160 CC performance motorcycle across key cities. Apache RTR will sport features that are normally seen in high-end international bikes and will be the fastest motorcycle in India in its segment.

On the export front, TVS Motor Company exported 9,133 units of two wheelers in June 2007.
