Expert Guide: DIY Maintenance for Your TVS Jupiter

Renowned for its reliability, practicality, and convenient ownership, TVS Jupiter is quite easy to live with in terms of overall scooter maintenance; it only requires basic maintenance to keep it in tip-top condition. If you are a TVS Jupiter owner, it is advisable to have a scooter maintenance checklist to maximize fuel efficiency and get the best performance possible. This helps reduce recurring maintenance costs so that you can enjoy a worry-free ride every time.

Here’s a checklist to keep your TVS Jupiter in excellent running condition: -

  • ● Ensure Clean Engine Oil and Gear Oil

The engine can deliver its peak performance when running on clean engine oil, one which effectively lubricates all the critical parts of a powertrain. Hence, it is always recommended to get the engine oil replaced at recommended intervals or even before. If possible, try monitoring the fluid health and status at home. Changing or top-up of oils is recommended to be done at your nearest TVS Motor service center as it requires professional tools and technicians to drain out and flush the engine oil. Here are the oils that need either top-up or replacement.

  • ⮚ Fork oil (Gabriel premium fork oil)

  • ⮚ Engine oil (TVS Tru4 Skuuta Oil)

  • ⮚ Transmission oil

  • ● Filter Care for Better Performance

TVS Jupiter 2025 has two filters – an air filter and an oil filter. While an oil filter is to be changed during an engine oil change, inspecting an air filter can be done at home in a DIY style. Here is a step-by-step guide.

  • ⮚ Open the seat – Open the seat and access the under-seat storage, six bolts are to be unscrewed (two at both ends and two sideways) for accessing the engine compartment.

  • ⮚ Remove the under-seat box – After unscrewing, lift the under-seat casing gently. After it comes out, the main engine compartment will be visible with a big black box housed just beside it.

  • ⮚ Air Filter compartment – After locating this compartment, start unscrewing all bolts to pull out the side panel of the box. After that, you can easily pull out the air filter. Just make sure to do it in a gentle manner.

  • ⮚ Health check – If it is dusty, try cleaning it with an air blower / vacuum cleaner from both sides as gently as you can. Make sure to be careful with the air filter as it is a delicate part. Once cleaning is done and there is no visible dust, fit it right back in its original position.

  • ⮚ Restore and tighten – After putting the air filter back, everything has to be done in reverse. Bolt back the air box, fit the under-seat compartment back with all six bolts tight, and check if the seat is properly locking.

In more dusty areas, the air filter requires early replacement to avoid costly damage to the engine in the long run.

Oil filter check and replacement, on the other hand, is complex and not suggested to be done in a DIY style, as improper removal can lead to spillage of oil. Get your TVS Jupiter serviced at a TVS Motor service center, as the expert technicians can complete the same job in a timely and efficient manner.

  • ● Tyre & Battery Health

Your tyres suffer the most wear and tear during regular usage. Even on good roads, they bear the stress of both the payload and the braking. It is suggested to not load weight beyond its rated kerb weight and capacity.

Check your tyre tread depth and inspect your tyres for signs of wear, cracks, cuts or bulges, especially the side walls as they are prone to such damages.

Next up is your battery health. Maintaining a scooter’s battery health is also crucial for your overall scooter maintenance. Ensure that your scooter is regularly used and does not sit for weeks without ignition. Even if it is not running regularly, start your scooter and let the engine idle for a few minutes.

Ensure battery connections are proper and clean, and keep a lookout for carbon and dust accumulation on the terminal as it hampers the current flow. Usually, the lifespan of a battery is 3-5 years depending on the usage. Yet, it can be prolonged if the battery is well taken care of.

  • ● Keeping it Clean

As a scooter owner, this should be your thumb rule to keep your scooter clean. It is among the simplest ways to maintain the health of your scooter for years. For a proper clean-up of your scooter, start by gently dusting off loose dirt with a soft cloth; this can be done on a daily basis.

For a thorough cleanup, use scooter cleaning shampoo to wash the body and other areas, and avoid direct water jet on electrical components. After a complete wash, clean the scooter with a dry cloth.

Such complete cleanup with water should be avoided on a regular basis; once or twice a month is fine. Also, always use microfibre cloth to clean the surfaces, and use TVS Genuine Vehicle care products to keep your TVS Jupiter in top condition.
