TVS Motor Company posts 19% growth in September 2008

Exports up by 40%, while Motorcycles post 32% growth

TVS Motor Company has posted 19% growth registering total two wheeler sales of 137,246 units in September 2008 as against 115,091 units in the corresponding period of the previous year.

During the month, the company's motorcycle sales posted 32% growth recording71,278 units in comparison to 53,991 units recorded in September 2007. The company has been able to capitalize on its wholesome product portfolio and has witnessed a quantum increase in sales with notable contriubtions across all models. Scooters however recorded 27,108 units as against 27,199 units during the same period of the previous year.

During the month, TVS Motor Company commemorated the first anniversary of its Apache RTR brand with a mass delivery function organized at Secundrabad, thereby becoming the first two wheeler manufacturer in the state to deliver 250 premium segment motorcycles of a single brand, booked over the period of one week, on one day. The event also marked the delivery of the 2,50,000 th Apache.

During the month the company also broadened the horizons of its TVS Scooty brand with the launch of Balancing Wheels, a unique and innovative product that can be easily fitted on to the Scooty. For the first time in the history of the two-wheeler industry, the company is addressing a never-before segment, those who do not know how to ride, even a bicycle.

Exports continued its upward growth trend, posting an increase of 40% registering 18,229 units of two wheelers in September 2008 as against 13,036 units in the corresponding period of the previous year.
