Records 35 % growth in motorcycles, and clocks 1,07,830 total two wheeler sales

TVS Motor Company continued its impressive performance by clocking 65,066 units of motorcycle sales in November 04 compared to 48,052 units in the same period last year, recording a 35% growth.

Buoyed by good demand for motorcycles the total two wheeler sales clocked 1,07,830 units recording a growth of 26%.

The robust growth in motorcycle sales was due to the good demand for TVS Victor and TVS Centra. The launch of TVS Victor GX 110 CC has received excellent response across the country and this trend will continue in the coming months. Victor GLX 125 CC continued its steady growth. The Victor brand, strengthened by the product variants, has significantly increased its presence in the total motorcycle market in India. TVS Centra continued to score significantly on the mileage front. TVS Motor today has a sizeable share in the executive segment of the motorcycle market. The company continues to steadily ramp up its production to keep up with the market demand.

The launch of TVS Star has completed the product portfolio of TVS Motor in the four-stroke motorcycles and TVS Star has begun to register impressive numbers post its launch in select markets namely Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Jharkand, Uttaranchal, Bihar and Orrisa. This off take has begun to fill the gap created by rapid fall in demand for 2-stroke motorcycles and enable significant growth in motorcycle sales in the coming months.

TVS Scooty continued to dominate the scooterette segment (sub 100 cc category) recording 20,646 units in November 2004 compared to 16,803 units in the same period last year, registering a growth of 23 %.

TVS Moped clocked 22,118 units in November 2004 compared to 20,601 units during the same period last year. The company continues to maintain its market leadership in mopeds.

In the export front, TVS Motor Company continued its good performance having exported 4,251 units in November 2004, recording a growth of 68 % compared to the same period last year.
