TVS Motor Company registers 14% growth in August '11 sales

TVS Motor Company closed the month of August with an increase of 14% in overall sales. The company continued to maintain its growth with contributions from all segments in both domestic and export sales, with scooters taking the lead and exports witnessing a quantum increase.

Total sales for the month of August 2011 stood at 194,898 units against 170,735 units in the corresponding month of the previous year.

The company's cumulative sales for the months of April to August 2011 grew by 15% with sales of 920,990 units against 800,789 units recorded in the previous comparable period.

Two Wheeler

Total two wheeler sales grew by 14% with sales of 190,184 units in August 2011 in comparison with 167,109 units recorded in August 2010.

Scooter sales increased by 28% with sales of 52,253 units, compared to 40,913 units recorded in August 2010. Motorcycles grew by 17% accounting for 77,726 units in August 2011 as against 66,574 units in August 2010.

Domestic two wheeler sales of the company reported a growth of 11% with sales of 163,705 units in August 2011 against 148,081 units reported in August 2010.

Exports

Exports grew by 48% recording total sales of 29,984 units in August 2011 as against 20,245 units in the same month of the previous year. The company exported 26, 479 units of two wheelers in August 2011 in comparison with 19,028 units in August 2010, an increase of 39%.

Three Wheeler

In August 2011, the company sold 4,714 units of three wheelers as against 3,626 units in the comparable month of the previous year, a growth of 30%. Cumulative three wheeler sales for the months of April and August 2011 stood at 19,427 units.
