-Scooters grow at 20%; Domestic Sales increase 18%-
TVS Motor Company has posted 12% growth in October
2009, registering total two wheeler sales of 131,029 units against 117,101
units in the corresponding period of the previous year. The company has
posted continuous growth in sales over the last seven months, registering a
cumulative growth of 6% with sales of 868,509 units in the current financial
year up to October 2009 against 819,037 units in the same period last year.
Domestic sales of the company registered a growth of 18% recording 118,563
units in October 2009 as against 100,088 in the corresponding period of the
previous year.
Scooters sales have been on the upswing, marking 20% per cent growth in
sales with 28,301 units in October 2009 when compared to 23,487 units in the
corresponding period of the previous year. Total motorcycle sales of the
company stood at 56,465 units in October 2009 when compared to 59,217 units
recorded in October 2008.
Exports recorded sales of 12,466 units of two wheelers in October 2009 as
against 17,013 units in the corresponding period of the previous year.
TVS Scooty novel initiative 'Women on Wheels', won yet another laurel, this
time winning a Globe at the MAA Globes Awards held in Boston, which honors
the best in promotion marketing programmes across the world.
In October 2009, the company unveiled TVS King Arjun and TVS King LS in
Kolkata and Bangalore respectively, thus extending its footprint in the
three wheeler market to nine Indian states.
During the month, TVS Motor Company's CSR arm, Srinivasan Services Trust won
an award from the Government of Tamil Nadu for its outstanding contribution
in helping villagers become self reliant and improve their economic
development.
